I think this is by someone named Meres, who seems to run 5Pointz. I'm not impressed.

I actually like this piece. It's on a building across the street from 5Pointz, so perhaps not subject to the rules and regs and permits and permissions.

This is the main facade of 5Pointz, an Aerosol Art Center. I think they are trying to get film companies to use this site as a location, no doubt for a fee. I'm not impressed with the business plan or the streetart. The whole thing felt a bit smarmy.
5pointz Commercialism

5Pointz bills itself as an Aerosol Art Center. It's a big warehouse in Queens, covered on all sides with graffiti and streetart. The whole thing is highly regulated -- you have to apply for a permit to paint, and photographers need permission (and, I reckon, have to pay a fee).
Constructing Colony 3

The devastating effects of natural disasters and economic volatility have spurred architects to reconsider how to build in a tumultuous world. Argentinian architecture firm a77 is creating a colony in MoMA PS1’s outdoor courtyard in which artists, thinkers, architects, and other cultural agents are invited to live and work communally. Led by Gustavo Diéguez and Lucas Gilardi, a77 works with recycled and salvaged materials to create temporary housing. Powerful storms have left behind wreckage destined for landfills and the foreclosure crisis has created a glut of abandoned homes. The architects reimagine such bleak conditions to find new forms of sustainable dwellings as alternatives to the traditional house. In addition to an architectural performance, at both the stages of its construction and occupation, the colony is a model that proposes alternative uses of public space.

Selfless in the Bath of Lava, by Pipilotti Rist (1994).
Selbstlos im Lavabad is comprised of a small video embedded in a hole on the floor. In the video, the artist swims nude in an incandescent lava bath and cries out “I am a worm and you are a flower!” This video was first exhibited in Basel, Switzerland in 1994. In a later exhibition in Zürich, Switzerland, the video was placed at the foot of a Madonna and Child sculpture emphasizing the religious notion of damnation as suggested by the video.
Selbstlos im Lavabad is located in the Lobby floorboards.

It was 10:30 am when we arrived at MoMA PS1. Neither of us had checked the opening time on the website -- it doesn't open until noon. So we spent an hour in the Court Square Diner and then walked around looking at graffiti.
