Muddy Waters

17 Apr 2007 280
Taken around 6 p.m. near the Pine Street bridge. The river crested at 15 feet, which is 5 feet above flood stage. It's back down to about 12 feet here. At one point in the day, all the roads over and around the Mill River were closed but for Pine Street, making that the only access to my house. By the time I got home from work, the water had pulled back and the roads were open. This is what happens when there's over 24 hours of non-stop snow and rain, with a sewer break thrown in for extra impact. They're saying it will keep raining for the next three days. Receding

When the Mill River crested at 15 feet on Monday, water started coming in the basement windows of the Arts & Industry building. The building was evacuated around noon. When I came by at 6 p.m., the water had receded to about 12 feet (flood stage is 10 feet). See where this picture was taken. [?]

The fields flood, and mud is everywhere. That's why we call it Mud Season. The Peeps decided it's better to travel by boat than by car. See where this picture was taken. [?]

Flooded Fields of Hadley

Two days after Tropical Storm Irene blew through, there was still standing water in fields in Hadley. The Connecticut River is over to the right, behind the trees in the distance. See where this picture was taken. [?]

Flood in Florence

03 Sep 2011 364
I ventured out about 3 hours after the waters were at their peak -- there had been water across Spring Street and into the parking lot in back of where I was standing. Looks like it reached about 2-3 feet high in the parking lots. See where this picture was taken. [?]
