Thin solder wire, flux and a good pair of tweezers.

Soldering was pretty relaxed, except for the USB socket. The 0603 components require a bit of concentration and patience. Soldering with an iron is possible for enthusiasts, a magnifier would help a lot. Using solder paste + hot air / oven is definitely the way to go if you do more than just one board.

It's alive!

Well... at least PDI programming worked. I still need to get a micro-USB cable. Today I found out that my local consumer electronics store thinks I should pay 16€ for a friggin' 1.8m micro-USB cable. NO WAY. The cheapest old-style USB2.0 cable was still 6€. WTF!?! Up till now I was happy with HDMI cables being hilariously overpriced (I don't need those), but simple micro-USB cables are now overpriced as well.

Done!

A bit too much solder on the metal body, but that doesn't matter. It's hand assembled.

Cleaning with IPA

A sheet of soft tissue soaked with isopropyl alcohol and a stiff brush works nicely.

More flux added

Don't ever try this without additional flux.

Got a little solder bridge

Resolution: MORE flux!

Tacked the socket down

The socket is fixed, can't move anymore. Now I can take all the time I need to take care of the tiny pins.
