A last minute decision to put together something for Hallowe'en resulted in this effort.

Autumn leaves are falling from the trees...........and the weather is getting a little Chilli. Enjoy the rest of your weekend folks!

.........or as they are commonly known: Conkers. I went out this afternoon and scrabbled about in a road (between the traffic) near our house to collect them. You have to get to them before the school kids who generally want them to play the game of Conkers. Conkers is a traditional children's game in Great Britain and Ireland played using the seeds of horse chestnut trees—the name 'conker' is also applied to the seed and to the tree itself. The game is played by two players, each with a conker threaded onto a piece of string: they take turns striking each other's conker until one breaks. (Info from Wikipedia). These are from a small Acer tree in my garden. I took them indoors to photograph, as it was too wet and muddy outside. Better viewed large if you have time. The image in the PiP is essentially the same shot with an added texture :-)

Yesterday, I found this this lying on the paving stones in my back garden........it had blown in from the council-owned Lime Trees that are on the other side of the garden fence. As it was just starting to rain I quickly pegged it on the clothes-line to get this quick shot. Better viewed large if you have time. Thanks for looking.

All of these were taken yesterday morning during a walk in Sir George Staunton Country Park except the one in the top right hand corner, which was taken this afternoon in Emsworth Town Centre.

Despite the heatwave we're experiencing at the moment, the first signs of Autumn are becoming apparent, slowly but surely. This was taken at a small nature reserve a short drive from where I live yesterday afternoon.

Tabletop photography. I spotted these conkers in my local park and after fighting off a bunch of schoolboys who were also trying to collect them, I took them home to photograph :-) PiP 1......Several more conkers. PiP2......If you know, you know :-) Thanks for looking.

I meant to attach this image as a PiP to the one I posted yesterday..........but I forgot, so you have it today instead..!!

These seed heads caught my eye because of the lovely light on them. I have a large sycamore tree in my garden but the seeds heads are not this developed. This was taken in the Hilsea Lines, Portsmouth.

There's not a lot of Autumn colour around at the moment as we're having an unusually warm start to the season.................but what there is, is amazing!

Something a bit different. This is the top of a picnic table in Alice Holt Arboretum. It is directly beneath several Larch trees and is covered by the dead needles that have dropped from them. Please view large, on black. Thank you.
