35028 Clan Line is a preserved British steam locomotive, a member of the 'Merchant Navy' Class, built in 1948. After a long career on the national network, it was restored by the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society and now operates on mainline excursions, often hauling luxury Pullman trains. Today it was travelling from London to Havant and back again. I had no idea this was running today. I just noticed a large number of people on the railway bridge when we were on our way back from shopping, and when I investigated I saw the train just pulling into Havant Station. I just had time to grab one shot before it went past the bridge. It just goes to show you should always have a camera with you..!!

This is the view from the pedestrian bridge over Havant railway station, about a five minute walk from my house, looking towards the road bridge. This was a test shot to try out my new (to me) camera.......a Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ100. I decided I needed a compact (ish) camera I could fit into a coat pocket, when doing everyday stuff. It's actually far more complicated than my "proper" cameras and it's taking a bit of getting used to, but so far, so good..!! Best viewed large, I think.

This was taken last month, but I thought I'd post it as I haven't yet taken a photo this year..!! This bridge used to carry the Hayling Billy steam train from the mainland to Hayling Island. Taken at dusk.

Also known as the Balcombe Viaduct,. which carries trains on the mainline between Brighton and London. This is a five shot, hand held panorama merged together in Photoshop. It's not brilliant, (taken in harsh light in the middle of the day) , but I think it shows the scale of this magnificent structure. I took this whilst on a recce with a view to re-visiting sometime for another go at it at dusk or dawn! Looks better large, on black.

Dashed out pretty much straight from work this evening, for what turned out to be a pretty disappointing sunset. The tide was out and there was a bank of cloud lying along the horizon. This maybe the last of the sunshine for a while according to the weather forecast!!

This is my local railway station, about a five minute walk from my house. Taken on this day in January 2013, but resurrected for today. Not been out with a camera for what seems like ages........work, weather etc!!! Had a brief walkabout after work this afternoon, but very gloomy and dull with featureless skies!! Black and white seemed the way to go.

We were lucky enough to be allowed to enter the Rail Depot at the end of the Cobb in Porthmadog to take some photos.
