This is the only one of a little patch of poppies I found growing near my house, on a patch of wasteland, that didn't get destroyed by yesterday's terrible winds and rain. I picked it and took it indoors to photograph. Captured in natural window light, using a textured piece of card as a background. I gave up trying to get onto IP yesterday, but after a few hours of trying on and off today I finally got on the site around 4pm. It's still very slow though.

Without its petals, the pollen all gone.........this is all that remains except for the seeds inside. I thought black and white suited this well.........best viewed large if you feel up to it :-))

Taken during a visit to Hinton Ampner House and gardens, a National Trust property near Winchester in Hampshire. I spotted the seed heads in a wildflower border and they were crying out to have their photo taken :-)

This was taken back in June.............so I thought it was about time I shared it. I particularly liked the way the sun was making the petals translucent. Hope you like it too.

I got some Poppy seed heads from my neighbour's garden and wanted to try something different with them.............this collage was the result. I hope you like it. Best viewed large........thanks for looking.

I was surprised to see this beautiful poppy growing wild in Horsham, West Sussex. I thought they were all done for the year! Please enjoy large, on black. Thanks for looking!

Another image taken in one of the public gardens in Southsea, Hampshire.

This poppy was in a neighbour's front garden and had been badly battered by wind and rain, so I decided to get in close and turn it into an abstract image. I quite like how it turned out, but I understand that some might think it's a bit over-the-top.

This is the orange version( Mecanopsis Cambrica-Aurantiaca) of the more common Yellow Welsh Poppy. They're considered a wildflower, but I captured this one in the Southsea Rock Garden.

Taken in my neighbours's garden. These are perennial poppies and a absolutely huge!

These poppies have managed to grow in a tiny bit of soil between the pavement and the wall.
