Taken last Tuesday during a walk along the sea front. It rained on and off throughout the day, but there were some nice sunny periods too. This was captured during one of them. The castle was built for Henry VIII in 1544. The fortress defended against invasion from France and the Holy Roman Empire. It also defended the approaches to the Solent and the Royal Naval base at Portsmouth. The castle was significantly restored in the 1820s. During the refurbishment, a lighthouse was built at the castle at the request of the Admiralty. It was sited on a gun platform and built into the outer wall.

I haven't taken any new photos for a while, so I've been sorting through some of my unpublished ones. This was taken in July this year.

We had to wait for a while and make a couple of visits to get this light. It proved impossible to get a decent perspective and so we had to shoot from the side of a roadway using long lenses! Well worth the effort though. Mainland Scotland in the background.

Taken a couple of days ago on a dull, windy and cold day! Mono seemed the way to go.

I can never decide about the contrails in the sky. I think I like them in this case.........

Bored...........between work & weather, hardly used a camera for ages! This is a re-worked one from our jolly to North Wales last year. The weather was not very kind to us but we're going again in October this year, so maybe it'll be better!

Unfortunately there is no public access to the lighthouse, so we had to content ourselves with this view!
