Soundtrack to Life Just for Roger (and at his suggestion) I am posting this as the 1000th song in our wonderful group. From the Robert Plant and Alison Krauss 2007 album "Raising Sand" here is: Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us I was very intrigued by the title of this song and wondered just who "Sister Rosetta" was? Here is what I found. (What a cool lady!) Sister Rosetta Herself (1964): Didn't It Rain About the song by Sam Phillips: www.songfacts.

Soundtrack to Life This is an old photo I took up at Mt. Rainier National Park a few years ago. It reminds me of some lyrics in this song: "Ain't going back to Barton Hollow Devil gonna follow me e'er I go Won't do me no good washing in the river Can't no preacher man save my soul" So here is "The Civil Wars" with the title track from their 2011 album: Barton Hollow or here: YouTube (I wonder who will be #1000?) :) hee hee, it's me! :D

It's a Beautiful Day - Girl With No Eyes

Soundtrack to Life Maybe not a well known song, but it has haunted me since I was a teenager so now you guys get it lol. The lead singer is David LaFlamme and someone said this in the YouTube comments: "David LaFlamme was in a hotel that had a pop picture of a girl and the eyes were gone; either by vandalism or design. Whatever, we got a classic out of it." Not sure if it's true, but that would certainly explain how this song came about, so of course I had to create this picture in Photofunia to go with it. Now maybe my eyes can sleep. I love this "Baroque Pop" style of music from the 60s. "Girl With No Eyes" from this Californian group "It's a Beautiful Day" off of their classic, self titled album from 1969. Girl With No Eyes Or here: YouTube

Soundtrack to Life and NOT TSC groups - Leading Lines Please Tiptoe through the Tulips with Toots! :) This is my grandma Toots (her nickname) circa 1967 in the Skagit Valley, Washington tulip fields. She and my grandpa were here on a visit from Michigan where they lived. She had a sense of humor/humour so I'm sure she would appreciate this video clip from the same era of the wonderful Tiny Tim and his performance on the Rowan and Martin's Laugh In show with Dick Martin. I think this aired outside the USA so hopefully some of you might remember it too. (Cameo appearances by Judy Carne and Goldie Hawn.) Listen here: Tiptoe Through the Tulips (It's the only link there is so if it doesn't work, I'm sorry.)

This is a photo I took many years ago of a special place in the neighborhood where I grew up. It used to have a great old barn that my friends and I went in one time when it was raining. It was full of loose hay and we had a lot of fun there. We had to climb a barbed wire fence and dodge our way around some unruly cows to get there, but it was worth it. The old barn eventually collapsed and this one was built in its place. It makes me think of this song; "40 Mile Town." Eric Johnson (From his Ah Via Musicom album 1990) YouTube: 40 Mile Town I got a way I can find you Down the Melody Ranch, I know you're there most everyday That's where you like to spend some time alone I need to talk to you Tell you what I feel like, warm hellos in the morning mist You're the magic that turns my heart around Seems to me, we're really living way too fast Oh when we should let the story of love last Sometimes I just want to go and drift away... And move on to some forty mile town I got a way I can see you Close my eyes and start to watch the ancient water flow A crystal dance that paupers know so well That's the way kings keep dreamin' Hold their head up high and live below forty mile skies The way that it can be in ocean towns Things of this world guess we never really own Oh that mountain falls and then we're goin' home We should try to make the best and get away... Work on towards our forty mile town Seems to me we really need to feel love more, Oh an ordinary smile opens the door Sometimes all I want to do is dream away... Wake up in some forty mile town
