A flower a day for February.

Spring's coming. I promise. A Flower a Day for February .

Wandered around the yard after work this evening. Found that the yellow flowers (Freeisa) are still around, but have pretty much run their course. The Daffies are nearly ready to open; in fact, two will likely open tomorrow. The Hyacinths are beginning to poke through, as are the Tulips. And the next generation--the Irises for one--are coming nicely. And there's this little guy. The photo's a little dark; in real life, this is a pastel blue.

Last spring's flower, of course. The winter's getting to me.

I've grown weary of the snow, however pretty it's been the past week....

Finally! Some color in our gardens.... I spend the whole winter waiting for the crocuses to return.

Just a touch....

When I originally planted the crocuses, twenty-some years back, they all looked like this. For the most part they've "evolved"--most of the current generation is white (sometimes with purple tints), with an occasional purple sport. And this guy. Welcome! Glad to see you!

A Flower a Day for February . We've had crocuses as early as February 26 in the past. Clearly that's not happening this year....
