Located in the south-west part of Montreal, near the Lachine Canal, the Atwater Market takes its name from the street that borders it and which perpetuates the name of Edwin Atwater, a businessman and city councilor of the mid-19th century. The market was contructed in 1933, and its art deco lines make it one of Montreal’s most distinctive buildings. Open all year round, the market is best known for its butcher shops and cheese merchants. The pastries are also well worth the calories. Each spring, summer and fall the market is surrounded by outdoor stalls at which local farmers sell their fresh produce What came out of the camera was too dark so I indulged myself in a little experiment in pseudo-HDR.
