Taken in 1978 with Pentax S1A 35mm SLR using Pentacon 30mm f3.5 wide angle lens. Ilford FP4 black and white film (125 ASA/ISO), developed in Ilford ID XI. Negative scanned using Canoscan 8800F.
The town is Basingstoke, Hampshire, England. In the 1970s this was a 'new town' meaning that the old market town had been buldozed and lots of new, concrete office buildings and shops erected. The white building was occupied by IBM, the grey one by the UK Civil Service Commission. The latter has now been demolished and replaced by a block of high rise flats/apartments.
The 'distortion' is due entirely to the wide lens and angle of view, no Photoshop twisting used!

The white mess on the grass is rubbish left by the people, not specks on the negative!

Ena belonged to neighbours, but often came to visit as her owners were out a lot. We do not know her real name, but we used to call her Ena.
Pentax SLR, with Peak 135mm lens. Ilford Pan F monochrome (black and white) negative film (rated 50 ASA). Negative scanned using CanoScan 8800F.

1970s 35mm SLR photographic equipment, photograph taken about 1978.
The camera is a Pentax S1A and it is fitted with a Jupiter-9 85mm f2 portrait lens (made in the USSR). Far right is the Super Takumar 55mm f2 standard lens, and to the left is a Peak 135mm f2.8 telephoto lens. Right foreground is a Pentacon 30mm f3.5 wideangle lens (made in East Germany). The Weston Master 5 light meter (which I still have) is in the left foreground.
Ilford FP4 black and white film. Scanned to create a 24 bit colour tif file and processed to sepia using Silkypix software.

Test picture taken for my first home developed film in 1978. It is Ilford HP5 film processed in ID-11. I find the grain structure less prominent, and the tones smoother, than the HP5 Plus film I have recently had developed commercially. This gives me a clue about what to do next ...
