The Order of the Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon (in Latin: "Pauperes commilitones Christi Templique Salomonici"), known as the Knights Templar, Order of the Temple in French: Ordre du Temple or Templiers) or simply as the Templars, was a military order of Chivalry. The organization existed for around two centuries in the Middle Ages (1118-1312), having been founded in the aftermath of the First Crusade of 1096, with the original purpose of protecting Christians who returned to make the pilgrimage to Jerusalem after its conquest.

A la base de chaque plateau se trouve un panier recouvert d'un tissu blanc. Au-dessus, il y a une structure qui supporte 30 pains (auxquels on attribuait des vertus miraculeuses), pesant 400 grammes chacun, et une couronne surmontée de la Croix du Christ, entrecoupée de dizaines de fleurs en papier, une allusion à la légende de la Reine Santa Isabel et du miracle des roses.

We do celebrate..

Tomar was the Templar headquarters, and the order of the Temple was always accused by the Inquisition of doctrinal deviations, if not of heresy, until it was extinguished by Pope Clement V in 1307. The symbols of the Holy Spirit are clearly present on the high tray that the girls carry in the procession: at the top the dove and the crown and from top to bottom the bread strung on a cane (to which miraculous virtues were attributed), paper flowers (traditionally, poppies) and even ears of corn. Each four years Tomar displays this celebrations and will follow it up here up here. Thank you.

The Convent of Christ (Portuguese: Convento de Cristo/Mosteiro de Cristo) is a former Catholic convent in Tomar, Portugal. Originally a 12th-century Templar stronghold, when the order was dissolved in the 14th century the Portuguese branch was turned into the Knights of the Order of Christ, that later supported Portugal's maritime discoveries of the 15th century. The convent and castle complex is a historic and cultural monument and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983.
