tacky new tops for market stalls

05 Jul 2014 334
Tacky-looking circus-style tops for the market stalls at Gloucester Green mean that the interiors are now so dark that they have to have strings of electric lights on all day. Shopping at this tarted-up market becomes an unpleasant experience with the energy-efficient light bulbs close to eye level, though fortunately many of these bulbs have now been changed to something less disturbing. If they want to save energy, then why have these roofs that block out the natural light? The old-style canvas roofs required no lights at all in the daytime and were far more photogenic!
