Live Free Or Die

15 Nov 2024 138
A Harley-Davidson sticker on the back of my motorhome. Riding motorcycles could also be like the R.V. life and motoring along the open roads. They don’t make film for these cameras any more, and I never shot with one in the first place. So, I have no idea what kind of film it was or what it looked like, or whether it came in a cartridge or pack. I built up the edge of the film plane a little bit by cutting some thin strips of cardboard to glue along where the “negative” area was. I’m pretty sure that, since it was an instant film camera, the film didn’t rest right on those ridges. Most likely a little way off them to achieve the right focus. I used two thinknesses of cardboard on both the top and bottom where the negative sat, but I should have used only one thickness on each side, because the focus is off. The area where the film rides was also slightly smaller than the height of the film gate, so I had to trim a little of the film to get it to fit inside the camera. I ended up cutting through the sprocket holes on one side to get it to fit. But, I got it to produce a picture. Pinhole Front Yard

The view off the top step of my front porch. The image is not real sharp, maybe I made the pinhole too big – but I finally got a useable picture from this homemade pinhole camera! That’s what matters to me. Taken with my eighty-eighth camera. Foma Film

Foma has been in business since 1921 making black and white film and film materials. This Fomapan Classic 100 is my favorite film made by them.

Hit Neighborhood

A picture taken with my new (used) camera that I got on Monday. It's the original brand, Hit, and afterwards, several other companies made lots and lots of copies. They don't take very good pictures, but I did get a decent image out of it. The negatives it produces are 14x14mm - very small. This is a view off my front porch, over toward my neighbor Ginger's house. You can see my 1996 Ford Taurus station Wagon in the middle of the frame. Camera: Hit (made in Japan, approx. 1950) Lens: 30mm Film: Fuji Film Neopan Acros 100 B&W (expired 10/2019) Aperture: f/11 Shutter Speed: approx. 1/30th of a second Date: June 7th, 2023, 6.11 p.m. Location: Norris City, Illinois, U.S.A. Foma Fomapan Classic 100

This is some Foma black and white film that is lower priced for those on a budget, like me. But it's good film, so I like it.

Kodak Ektar 100

Kodak Ektar 100 is one of Kodak's "professional" color films. It's so expensive and that's the reason I don't shoot a lot of it.

Fuji Film Neopan Acros 100

This is Fuji's premier black and white film, in my opinion. When I shoot it and develop it in Caffenol, it looks marvelous. It's my favorite black and white film/developer combination. They stopped making it a couple years back, (to my dismay!), but fortunately I picked up about 50 rolls before it disappeared.
