This year, 2021, my town is celebrating it's 150th birthday. It was founded in 1871, although it was settled quite before that. There was the first Methodist church that was founded in Illinois, and it started here in 1838. This house pictured, the Wakeford Place, is the oldest house still remaining in Norris City, built in 1877. Now, it is a museum. A long time ago, there used to be a train depot on this spot. When I was developing the film, the lid came off the tank and flashed the entire bottom edge of the roll. That's why there's a slight glow along the bottom. This was taken while they were going out of business. They were made an offer for this property they couldn't refuse from a cult/church. Everything you see in this picture was razed for a parking lot for said cult. I shopped here a lot and am going to miss them. I once bought a cheap Chinese counterfeit recording of the Sound Of Music Soundtrack album here, among lots of other things. You just can't replace stores like that. This is the old city building, where the mayor and council used to meet. They had another building they used after this and now a current they use, which was an old converted funeral parlor, so this one hasn't been used by the city for some time. Now, it's part of another funeral parlor - what comes around, goes around, I guess.
