Lolove And Her Baby Carriage

|
This was my Grandmother, Martha Lolove Garrett Wright, with her doll and baby carriage. She was born in 1903, so it was probably taken before 1910.

Mom At The Photo Booth
| 24 May 2024 |
|
|
This was probably taken at the County Fair, because there are a lot of pictures like this of my Mother, some by herself, or with her Mother. Mom was the baby of the family, so that's probably why there are so many photo booth pictures like this - for a long time, it was just her and her mother because her brothers and sisters had grown up, married and moved away.
Lolove and William McKinley Wright
| 23 May 2024 |
|
|
This was my mom's mother and father, Martha Lolove Garrett and John Dewey William McKinley Wright, when they got married on July 30th, 1924. Lolove was 21 at the time, and McKinley was 24.
I scanned this from the original negative. It was probably taken with a box camera of some sort.
In those days, when a couple got married, their family and friends would give them a "shivaree," which consisted of banging pots and shooting guns among other things. You can see a washtub with a club on it at the bottom of the picture, so I believe these two were given a shivaree.
Cutting The Cake

This was my parents cutting the cake on their wedding night of August 7th, 1959. They had an outdoor wedding.
August 7th 1959

|
|
This was my parents on their wedding night, August 7th, 1959. They're standing with the Maid of Honor, the Best Man and the minister that married them. They had an outdoor wedding.
My Dad liked the song "A White Sport Coat (And A Pink Carnation)" by Marty Robbins, so I'll bet that's why he wore one at his wedding.

This was my parents on their wedding night, August 7th, 1959.
The round end table on the far right belonged to my Dad's grandmother. I inherited it and have it in my living room.
Loreas and Vernon Humphries
| 22 May 2024 |
|
This was my Great Aunt and Uncle, on my mother's side, Loreas and Vernon Humphries, taken in December 1969. Most likely on Christmas Day or the day after. They were posing in front of my family's house in Safford, Arizona. Every year at Christmas, my family would either go to their house in Las Cruces, New Mexico or they would come to our house.
Vernon was quite a character and when he was younger, he used to be a chuckwagon cook on cattle drives in the early 1900s.
Great Aunt Loreas and Reno Sapp
| 22 May 2024 |
|
|
This was my mother's Aunt, and her mother's sister, Loreas, with her first husband Reno Sapp. I'm pretty sure it's a wedding picture. Reno seemed pretty flashy and I think that's probably why Loreas married him. The marriage didn't last and Loreas married again later on.
This was taken in Roswell, New Mexico sometime in the 1930s.

Winding A Motor

My late father winding a motor, which is the profession he did since he was a young teenager. He was able to raise a family doing that. Taken on November 16th, 2006, with my Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D DSLR.
Look Over There

My late Father on a family outing to the Shawnee National Forest. This shot was taken at the Garden Of The Gods. I had him to point off into the distance to make it a more "dramatic" shot.

Ella Mae Bowles
| 12 Mar 2018 |
|
This was one of six old tintypes in an envelope marked "Nunn and Bowles Tintypes." The Nunns and Bowles were on my Mother's side of the family. This one was complete while another one of the same pose I found and scanned was not.
It's my Great Grandmother Ella Mae Bowles. She sailed over with her family from Chatres, Isle of Ely, England when she was 7 and a half years old and landed in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Ella Mae Garrett

This is my Great Grandmother on Mom's side, Ella Mae (Bowles) Garrett. Mom's first name was Ella, so I'd say she was named after her grandmother.
In The Navy

A scan of an old family photograph. It was dated 1956 and was from when my Dad joined the Navy.
