Originally named Veterans Bridge when it was built in 1951, it was renamed the Martin Luther King Bridge for King in 1968 after the national civil rights leader was assassinated that year. It spans the Mississippi River between Illinois and Missouri, crossing into St. Louis at the Laclede's Landing area.

Memory Bridge

This is a bridge that was built over a stream located at Dolan's Lake, a nearby camping and fishing place.
My late first ex-wife told me when we were still together that her father had helped to build this bridge back in the 1960s.
It's memories like this that a person never forgets.
