This depiction of the Red Baron, (Baron Von Richthofen), and his airplane, is part of a series of aerial-themed stamps from Manama. As part of my stamp collection, I collect stamps that depict aircraft and stamps about space.

One of the planes on exhibit in the National Museum of the United States Air Force, located at the Wright-Patterson Air Force base near Dayton, Ohio. This is a B-24 Liberator bomber. The three people posing in front of it were classmates of mine when we visited here on a senior class trip back in 1979. I was going through my old yearbooks and came across a picture from my 1977 art class, when I was a sophomore. I had forgotten all about making this bi-plane out of toothpicks and old model car tires. As I remember, it was about 10 inches long and was covered with paper so that it could be painted. The tires were part of the slicks that came with a model of a rail dragster, I can remember that quite well.
