Shelling Pecans

This was me in the process of cracking open pecans to use in my chocolate fudge for Christmas. Some years I use nuts in my fudge, some years I don't. You know what they say - "Sometimes you feel like a nut; sometimes you don't."

Svema Black and White Film
18 May 2022

The lastest batch of black and white film I bought. It used to be called Astrum, but the company seems to have changed their name to Svema.

I've tried some of the 200 speed, and bought some of the 64 and 100 speed, so I thought I might as well get some of the 400 speed to try that out as well.

My favorite speed for black and white film has always been 100 ASA/ISO. This Svema film is made by the same company that, up until recently, was known as "Astrum." Since I had only tried their 200 speed black and white film before, and liked it a lot, I had to try their 100 speed as well. I'll bet it will work as good as their other film I've tried.

I've always loved shooting with slow film and this Svema 64 promises to be just what I want. The company used to be called Astrum, but apparently, they adopted the defunct Russian film company's name.

Svema 16mm Black and White Film

An old spool of Russian 16mm black and white film I bought to try and use in my Minolta 16mm camera. Even though it's well expired, black and white film seems to be viable for much longer a period than color film.

Svema is an old Russian film, not made anymore. What I have expired sometime in 1993.

Memories Are Made Of This
06 May 2018

Each year in the last week of our local school, the juniors paint their names on the side of the Lion's Club building downtown. This was was last year's class. This week, the juniors painted over this and were painting their names. When they get it finished, I will head down there to memorialize it on film once again.

The Class Of 2018
02 Mar 2018

Each year, the high school Juniors paint their names on the side of this Lion's Club building. It's a tradition that goes back to the 1960s at least, I'm pretty sure. They used to paint on the old viaduct, until it was torn down in the late 1990s. And, by the way, this is not graffiti - it's authorised.
