This is the southern end of the Crinan Canal which is a historic waterway in Argyll and Bute, western Scotland. It is often called “Britain’s most beautiful shortcut” because it allows boats to avoid the long and exposed sail around the Mull of Kintyre and the treacherous waters of the Sound of Jura.
Length: 9 miles (14.5 km) Number of locks: 15 (including 2 sea locks at each end)

Herring Harbour!

This is the sea entrance and a section of the Harbour at Lybster which is a village on the east coast of Caithness in northern Scotland. It was a big herring fishing port in the 19th century.
Lybster lies at the end of the tenth stage of the John o' Groats Trail, a long-distance walking trail from Inverness to John o' Groats.
