Photo taken of the Easter 1972 railfan tour train to Albury and Tumbarumba NSW Australia. This photo taken at a photo stop on the return run from Tumbarumba to Wagga. There was supposed to be coal at Tumbarumba to resupply the tender but it had weathered to much to use. So at photo stops redundant sleepers and wood was collected and added to the tender as shown here. The loco, 3144, was originally built as a tank engine for Sydney suburban service. Following electrification 77 of them had tanks removed and were fitted with a variety of second hand tenders. They then replaced older locos in branch line service. In the last years of steam they became shunters and back-up locos in country locations, this one being borrowed for the tour from Griffith, some 250 Km away from here. The photo is scanned from a high speed ektachrome slide.

Look at these two images so that your eyes focus on a point halfway to the screen. You should see 4 images. Make the inner 2 images become 1 by moving your head and adjusting your focus. If successful you will see loco 1307 in stereo. These images were made in late 1972 or early 1973 where withdrawn locos were stored prior to scrapping. The camera was a Zeiss Ikon Contina and the film Tri-X with home development and these scans from commercial prints.

Two people seem happy to be here. HBM to my viewers for 14/10/2024 Memory Park at Hazelbrook in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney where we lived for a decade from 1977. There was children's play equipment then which our older ones enjoyed and an older style picnic table. The park area has also shrunk due to widening the highway above to the right. Also see the PiP.

A town in the Blue Mountains region to the West of Sydney. This part retains the character of Lawson as it was when we lived in the next (smaller) town in the late 70s and 80s. A large population growth which commutes to the Sydney area and a well-constructed 4 lane highway have changed the region's character.The structure upper left is a memorial to those who served in WWI.
