I was there when the XP2011 loco "City of Sydney" arrived, on its way to Sydney.
Taree railway station is located on the North Coast line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the town of Taree, opening on 5 February 1913 when the line was extended from Dungog. It was the terminus of the line until it was extended to Wauchope on 12 April 1915. It had extensive locomotive servicing facilities, including an eight road roundhouse. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

Saturday challenge... This week we are celebrating the 2nd year anniversary here in our Saturday Self-Challenge Group. In honor of this, everyone can choose something they've learned here in SSC and take a photo using this technique. You can explain why you like using the technique and you can also embellish your photo with text and post-processing if you'd like.
Curves (25 Feb 2017 challenge), on the railway line near Cooroy in Queensland. Fun to look for curves as a photo opportunity.
Happy Birthday SSC!! Thanks to Karen and Val :-)

Imbil Railway Bridge in Queensland.
The 1915 bridge on the Mary Valley railway line is a landmark structure crossing Little Yabba Creek, at the charming town of Imbil. It may be viewed from the road bridge on the north-eastern side of town. The railway was built to support and enhance local agricultural production, particularly dairying. This style of steel bridge is a half through Pratt Truss, which was developed in 1908 and much stronger than earlier designs. This is one of five bridges of this kind remaining in Queensland.

My great grandfather worked for the London and South Western Railway in Southampton.
c1897 to1909, he and his family were living in Battersea and he was a Railwayman at the Vauxhall Nine Elms locomotive works. The locomotive works were transferred to Eastleigh between 1908 and December 1909, so he and his family moved in 1910 to Bishopstoke, Eastleigh, Southampton, where he was a Hammerman for the London South Western Railway Company.
He had previously served in the Army, awarded the Egypt Medal being "in the operations up the River Nile and in the vicinity of Suakin 1884-85". His name is listed on the medal roll.
