11th century fortress built by the Moors. Perched on top of the mountain with breathtaking views. The drive up from the coast is spectacular. January 1987 trip to Alicante Province, Valencia, Spain from Bucklebury in Berkshire, England. We stayed in Denia and visited Javea, Calpe, Benidorm, Guadalest and the nearby island of Ibiza. The scenery was spectacular, the Moorish architecture was very attractive and the climate was very good in Winter in January. Denia was a great base and we really loved Javea and Calpe.
