Weetbix SH02

11 Apr 2026 10 14 124
Now a staple on Australian breakfast tables, Weet-Bix was created by Arthur Shannon in 1926... On 24 August 1926, the introduction of Australia’s iconic breakfast cereal came when an application to trademark the name 'Weet-Bix' was lodged. Arthur came up with this name after asking his next-door neighbours and factory employees to choose between Sun-Bix or Weet-Bix. Production began in Leichhardt, Sydney, that same year. environment.nsw.gov.au/topics/heritage/blue-plaques/the-introduction-of-weet-bix This tin dates from around 1998. Miksang style SH19

Sunday challenge SC190 - Post 29 March - Miksang photography Miksang is a form of contemplative photography based on visual perception of the everyday world as it truly is, rather than as we imagine it to be. Instead of seeing and labelling ‘objects’ we see colour, texture and pattern, light and shadow, form and space. Miksang is a Tibetan word that translates as “good eye.” miksang.org My photos 2015 Safe Harbour 2022 Manning River 2025 Style of Edward Weston 2026 Clouds www.ipernity.com/doc/gillianeverett/53279856 2026 Scavenger hunt 19 Inspired by Miksang www.ipernity.com/group/2445860/discuss/200794

003/365 Think

05 Jan 2025 4 8 308
3/365 Have had this motto for many years, having worked for IBM through the 70s-90s. “THINK” was the slogan developed by Thomas Watson Sr. when he was a sales manager for the National Cash Register Company, exhorting his salesmen to use their heads, not their feet—their job was to think. As IBM CEO during the 1920s, Watson continued to encourage innovation and “THINK” became a ubiquitous slogan in IBM paraphernalia including notepads, advertising, products—even the title of the company magazine. By the 1950s, IBM sales staffs distributed “THINK" signs like this one to their customers. americanhistory.si.edu Scavenger Hunt 25Scav2024 Language Second year Scavenger Hunt www.ipernity.com/group/2445860/discuss/197768

SHC40 Hornsea Saffron

19 Jun 2021 8 14 229
TSC Scavenger Hunt - Salt and pepper pots. Hornsea is a small seaside town on the coast of East Yorkshire, around 15 miles north-east of Hull. Once the town’s largest employer, the Hornsea Pottery traded for 51 years before closing down in 2000. During this time, it produced some of the most innovative designs and production techniques within the pottery industry, won awards and produced tableware that is still recognised worldwide today... Hornsea Pottery’s chief designer John Clappison studied ceramics at Hull Regional College of Arts and Crafts... Appointed as chief designer in 1958, he quickly took Hornsea Pottery to the forefront of British design. In 1967, the factory began to produce full ranges of tableware, the first of which included Clappison’s Heirloom, Saffron and Brontë patterns. www.ceramicreview.com/articles/the-heritage-of-hornsea

46SH Stein

We bought this when we went to the Munich Oktoberfest in 1983. We camped nearby. It was freezing, and we happened to be there when Australia won the Americas Cup. The Aussies were up all night celebrating. Little did we know that a few years later we would move out to Australia. The word "stein" is of German origin. The etymology of the word is either from "Stein Krug" (meaning stone jug/mug) or from "Steingut" (meaning stone goods). Steins are mugs used for drinking beer. They can be made of earthenware, pewter, wood, ceramics, crystal, porcelain, creamware, silver, or glass. They have a handle and a hinged lid; are decorated and sometimes hand-painted. steincenter.com TSC Scavenger Hunt - Something you think is a treasure
