things I couldn't stop staring at

22 Jun 2020 5 3 632
Cut-paper collage 7 1/2" x 10" Sometimes I indulge myself by combining pieces of paper that I'm frequently picking up to examine again. I especially wanted to do something with that explosion of red paint by Wayne Thiebaud. It's like my life at this moment. (Check out the nipped-in waist in the armor.)

topsy-turvy thiebaud

This cut-paper collage postcard is a companion piece to "the age of rhubarb." What happened is, after I finished "the age of rhubarb," my work table was inundated with scraps of Wayne Thiebaud paintings (from a calendar) that I hadn't used. So instead of putting (or throwing) them away, I went nuts on them with my scissors and made another collage. It's pretty goofy, I think, and not my usual style. But then, no one wants to get stuck in the same old style, right? Anyway, I could use some feedback here. What do you think of this one compared to my usual stuff, or compared to "the age of rhubarb" .?

intimations of spring

This is the last in my little series of cut-paper postcards made out of scraps from a Wayne Thiebaud calendar. I made it in early March, when spring was just beginning to pop in the DC region. It was rather amazing: the cherry blossoms went into full bloom at least a week early.
