This model, and the adjacent interior pictures, are from a restored barracks at the Great Basin Museum in Delta, Utah (see www.greatbasinheritage.org/gbmuseum.htm ). As the water stains on this model illustrate, the museum has funding problems. It was, however, a wonderfully detailed museum with artifacts from throughout the Delta area and a very friendly, and eager to talk, staff. (see adjacent photos of Topaz (Utah) Internment Camp)

The Rio Vista bridge crosses the Sacramento Deep Water Channel, the route for ship to the port of Sacramento. The bridge thus has a very long center span that lifts.

It's difficult now to imagine that interurban trains (like the golden one in this set) were the main means of transportation from the Bay Area through Sacramento to Chico.
