Another working windmill, at Sam Nail ranch site.

Though barely visible in the tree, a Painted Bunting (see adjacent picture).

Throughout the park I had seen quick flashes of a very colorful bird -- not only was there a picture here of the Painted Bunting, but one landed in a tree nearby (adjacent photo) while I was reading the description.

A no longer operating windmill at the Nail ranch. In the center of the oasis is a newer windmill put up by the park service in the 1950's -- I don't know if it was a replacement for what had been a second windmill on the ranch.

Not very far from the Wilson ranch (see adjacent photos), another example of where a family that had tried to live in the area. Both of these ranches are on the west side of the park.
