What to do with a dry lake bed? 1) stack Christmas trees for later use as fish habitat when the area is flooded again, 2) grazing area for cattle (barely visible in the distance), 3) using tires to create fish habitat.

Just beyond the stump appears to be the foundation of possibly another home or building. Due to the mud, I couldn't get out there to see. This is at what would now be Kissack Bay at Lake Isabella and would normally be under water. The lake is very low due to the previous winter's drought.

Taken from a point further east, more remains of what had once been a highway along the south fork of the Kern River (see adjacent picture). This had been buried by Lake Isabella for some time and is at what would now be Kissack Bay of Lake Isabella. The lake is very low due to the previous winter's drought.

Unlike in Sequoia National Park, the large trees in this grove are just scattered among smaller trees. The trees are so thick that when I first was walking in the grove I wondered where the big trees were until I realized that they were almost right in front of me.
