We had a few hours to kill before our bus. So a lazy late breakfast on the river front seemed ideal.

We wound along the river banks, as much as we could, and spent a few hours heading out of the central area.

The tradition states that touching the dragons on Dragon Bridge guarantees a return visit to Ljubljana. It has worked every time so far, so we wouldn't dream of skipping this routine. We greet them like old friends, and I'm sure they remember us.

We could not leave without having one. This was partially demolished before we remembered a photo was necessary.

It is believed that touching the dragons on Dragon Bridge will ensure a return visit to Ljubljana. Seems to have worked for us six times so far. Better not change the pattern.

Dragon bridge, again.

Peter and Paulona, who we met ten years ago in the Falkland Islands. They now have three daughters – Lucija, Anja, and two month old Julia. They live on the outskirts of Ljubljana, and fed us goulash and strudel and lots of home grown goodies. We stayed in their parents' house – they were away on holidays. Everyone had their turn at looking after us. Peter's brother and sister-in-law were often on hand, and his sister and her family came over one evening, too. But special thanks to Peter who picked us up, ran us around, took us to the mountains, and so on.

Obvious Venetian influences stamped all over this lovely coastal town in Slovenia.
