Sunday 21 July 2002 - Guðmundur Jónasson Travel R 348, a Mercedes-Benz 409D mini-coach seen at the GJ premises in Borgartún, Reykjavík, Iceland. We travelled on this fully loaded vehicle from the city air terminal (then Hotel Loftleidir) to the GJ premises from where our tour departed.

Sunday 21 July 2002 - A view of the Guðmundur Jónasson yard from an upper floor of their admin building in Reykjavík, Iceland with one of their Mercedes-Benz highland coaches getting washed by its driver. GJ specialises in different kinds of tours, on some the passengers spend their nights under canvas in the remote areas. The company owns a number of catering trucks and trailers which provide sustenance. One of the trailers, with a gas cylinder attached, can be seen above the front of the coach in this photo.

Mercedes-Benz vehicles of varying styles have been employed for many years and in this view, taken from an upper floor in their administration building, shows a model O 303 and a more modern Tourismo. Like many British operators GJ has moved away from its rather elaborate blue and white livery layout carried by most of the vehicles I saw during my visit now choosing to embellish base white vehicles with minimal graphics.

The smaller vehicle beyond it is a former GJ coach now operated by Kolbeinn Erlendsson which was to be the coach for our 'Countryside Odyssey' tour.
