Saturday 29 August 2015 (1643) – Taking a break at Peterborough Service Area on the A1. Left is National Holidays 473 (NH63 DYH), a Setra S415GT-HD new January 2014. On the right is East Yorkshire Motor Services 84 (YY63 OJA), a Caetano Levante bodied Volvo B9R new in December 2013, which was working the 1400 London to Hull National Express service 562. The timetable shows pick-ups at Victoria (1400), Golders Green (1435) and Milton Keynes (1535) then a refreshment break of 45 minutes at Woodhall Service Area (M1) before arriving at Doncaster at 1820. With a lot of road widening works on the M1, and this being a busy Bank Holiday Saturday, this alternative route was perhaps a much better option.

Saturday 9 August 2014 (1808) - Angus Coaches Limited (Angus Travel) BU06 CUO seen in Bury St Edmunds having arrived back from a 'Festival of Quilts' day excursion at the National Exhibition Centre. A Setra S415GT-HD new in May 2006 to Westbus. Other than the addition of Angus names and logos the basic livery is that of Westbus.

A Setra S415GT-HD new in May 2006 to Westbus. Other than the addition of Angus names and logos the basic livery is that of Westbus.

Thursday 13 June 2013 (1256) – A number of different ferries cross the River Dart between Dartmouth and Kingswear, two of which carry vehicles. ‘The Lower Ferry’ can only take cars and small vans but ‘The Higher Ferry’, seen here from a boat we were travelling on, can take full sized coaches and trucks. Two National Holidays Setra coaches were on board at the time. (Possibly NH10 DSH and NH10 PSH which I had seen in town earlier).

Thursday 13 June 2013 (1040) – National Holidays Setra S415GT-HD number 38 (NH10 PSH) seen at Dartmouth during a day out on a Torquay based tour. The brown and cream building on the right, now a restaurant, was once Dartmouth’s railway station although Dartmouth didn’t have a railway! Early railway builders were frustrated in their efforts to create a rail link to Dartmouth and so the line from Torbay terminated at Kingswear on the east bank of the River Dart with a ferry connection providing the cross-river link. As home to the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth generated much traffic and so had its own railway station to sell tickets and provide passenger facilities. It is said that the Station Master at Dartmouth was paid more than his counterpart at Kingswear as a result of salaries being paid according to passenger throughput and ticket sales.
