Icemen

15 May 2021 1
Taken in a gap in an old railway tie from the Canadian Northern line in a rural area northwest of Ottawa just after Canadian National abandoned it and pulled up the rails and ties in 2015. The line had been used for 99 years. Macro shot makes the ice crystals look big. Minolta AF macro 100mm f/2.8, post in Corel PaintShopPro and Topaz DeNoise, mostly to remove the purple fringing.

Winter dirt road closed for repairs

Walked down the centre since it was being repaired behind me. Pretty much SOOC and pretty much dusk. Trees are mostly gone now.

cold cardinal on a branch

03 Feb 2023
Coldest day of the winter so far, -25C with -40 windchill. Taken through a window but cleaned up with Topaz DeNoiseAI. APS-C mode so 450mm. Sony 70-300 f4-5.6G.

Lilac branches bent from heavy February snowfall

20 Jan 2023 1
What looks like dessicated fruit slightly below and right of centre is a chickadee with its head pointed the other way. Processed with Topaz DeNoise AI (+33v 20-Jan-23). Sony Zeiss 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 on a dumb adapter. So no idea of FL or DoF.

Coldest day of the year so far, -40 windchill all day. Some hardy birds still visiting the backyard feeder. Shot thru a window, sharpened with Topaz DeNoiseAI. The spots centre-left are on the window, not the sensor. Taken in APS-C mode so 450mm. Sony 70-300mm f4-5.6G.

Bare maple branches on a cold November morning. Taken with Minolta AF 200mm f2.8G wide open & LA-EA4 adapter. I like this lens's 3D effect wide open.
