What looks like dessicated fruit slightly below and right of centre is a chickadee with its head pointed the other way. Processed with Topaz DeNoise AI (+33v 20-Jan-23). Sony Zeiss 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 on a dumb adapter. So no idea of FL or DoF.

This one means something to me, as I wanted to capture the Nova Scotia shoreline that is near to my heart. I used an ancient Canon FL 19mm f/3.5 on a modern mirrorless body, in June 2019 on a fairly warm summer day. The spot is about 35 minutes southwest of Halifax. My family's nearby ancestral home was still standing (from the late 1700s; it's no longer there), and I went up the shore to a quiet spot. I wanted to capture the sea and sky as they appear to me on my favourite days, in the fall and winter, when it's cool and windy and the rain falls in lonely drops from a slowly weeping sky. To me, this picture captures that mood, which I try to carry with me as I'm marooned in shoreless central Canada until retirement carries me back to the seashore. Once you've lived in NS, nowhere else is home.
