EsMj027 Agrotis trux (Crescent Dart) Form 3

30 Jun 2014 1 246
Noctuidae, Noctuinae - Wingspan : 42mm. A single specimen was recorded on the second night of trapping at this location, again a bit different from the other forms, although it is not too difficult to see the similar patterns.

EsMj026 Agrotis trux (Crescent Dart) Form 2

30 Jun 2014 234
Noctuidae, Noctuinae Wingspan : 40mm. It has now been decided that, having compared undersides, these three species 025-027 are just variants of the same species, all having plain white hindwings, but the forewing pattern of these specimens is markedly different from the others forms recorded. Five of this form were recorded during our stay.

IG003 Agrotis exclamationis (Heart & Dart)

07 Jan 2014 290
Noctuidae Wingspan: 36mm. A common species widespread throughout Europe. Four specimens came in at Garda, but specimens appeared to have patterns on the wings that I'd not seen before which made me wonder whether it was a different species. See IG013 for clearer variation.

IG013 Agrotis exclamationis (Heart & Dart)

Noctuidae Wingspan: 36mm. This is one of the "Heart & Dart"s which had me concerned whether I had the species ID correct. The wing-tip patterns are not what I would associate with this species.
