IG005 Colocasia coryli (Nut-tree Tussock)

Noctuidae Wingspan: 38mm.
This dark specimen had me going for a while until another came in another night with more conventional colours. The wing patterns are quite normal however, which-ever colour variant it is. 4 specimens were recorded.

Lymantridae Wingspan 56mm.
A common species in the UK, it was an unexpected visitor at Garda. Only one specimen arrived during our stay.

Erebidae, Lymantriinae Final Length: ~45mm.
Perhaps the prettiest colour form of the caterpillar, out of a range of colours from Canary Yellow, through Pale Green, to Browns, or even Black, The large tufts of hair along the back and the often pink tail tuft add to the appeal of this species.

Erebidae, Lymantriinae Final Length: ~45mm.
Another of the showy caterpillar forms of this moth. It never fails to impress people who see it.

Erebidae, Lymantriinae Wingspan: 64mm.
The females of this species rarely come in to light traps, so one seen is always an event. It tends to be more cleanly marked than the males, appearing whiter, and with stronger bands across the wing. It's always nice to find one, as there is the possibility of gaining some eggs and rearing the often quite showy furry caterpillars.
