These vans wait to be hired by visitors bound to Gergeti. Climbing uphill on foot takes about 2 hours and the path is muddy and slippery. These vans often have right side steering wheel as they are bought in second hand to Japan (1/3 less expensive than bought in Europe). The track to the mountain is quite bumpy, mostly as it crosses a village still in the valley.

On the background you can see the Church of the Holy Trinity of Gergeti and, on the right, the top of Kasbek Mountain, 5,047 metres high; the opposite side of this mountain is Russian territory (Republic of Kabardino-Balkar).
