Main door at the West front of Lincoln Cathedral. The typical Norman arches are part of the original Cathedral, completed in 1092 and largely destroyed by an earthquake in 1185. The Cathedral was reconstructed in Gothic style incorporating the surviving Norman parts. Visitors enter through one of the side doors, the main portal is ony used for special occasions.
