Dunbar - Crunchy Carrot

01 Mar 2025 54
Due to its strategic location on the border between Scotland and England, Dunbar was often involved in military conflicts. The fortress survived its longest siege in 1338. Agnes Randolph (1312–1369), aka Black Agnes, defended herself against the English army of Edward III for six months. In 1370, Dunbar was given the status of a burgh. From 1513 to 1560, the French ruled the town until they were driven out by the English. Oliver Cromwell finally had the castle destroyed in 1650. According to the blackboard, this store offers "cullen skink", a very tasty scottish dish, I tried in the north of Scotland - and forgot to take a photo. It is a very thick soup made of haddock, potatoes, and onions.
