Nostra Signora, located just outside the village of Tergu is one of the few remaining structures of a former monastery. The monastery is gone - and now this is the parish church of Tergu.
The construction of Nostra Signora is attributed to Marianus I, who was the "Giudice" (judge/king) of Torres from 1065 to 1082. Workers from Pisa and the Lombardy built it. The church was consecrated in 1117 and in 1122 it dependent on the famous abbey of Montecassino, founded by Saint Benedict.

The façade´s upper part crumbled down during the centuries, so in the 12 century this church was even more impressing.

Nostra Signora, located just outside the village of Tergu, is (together with this gate, where i´m standing) the last remaining building of a former monastery. The monastery is gone - and now this is the parish church of Tergu.
