Pilgrimage in what is now East Anglia - The upper section displays lead ampullae [for holy water from the shrine] and the lower panel shows the badges or tokens and the places from where they orgininated. Tokens of pilgrimage such as lead-alloy badges, ampullae, and token were medieval souvenirs. They proved a journey was completed, and were often believed to grant spiritual protection, and sometimes that was considered a transferable property. East Anglia was historically defined by several major holy sites such as Our Lady of Walsingham. People went "On Pilgrimage" for several reasons - for atonement of sins, or to gain extra grace for the soul.

Looking up into the roof space - the structure includes some massive timber beams. I presume most of these baulks will be Oak. Although I can see some modern bolts, I suspect that joints and trenails would have featured in the original construction.
