In WW2, HMS Unicorn {aka HMS Cressy} was used as a base training for WRENS in Radio Telegraphy - using morse code at high speed. Over 1,500 passed through the base, and were billeted ashore. They were tucked away in the Warrant Officer's cabins on the mess deck.
