12 jars of Plum Jam - the second batch of donated plums. I started with slightly over 7lbs of what I think are Victoria plums. At least two jars will go to the supplier of the plums. E2A - the jar on the right of the front row has already been eaten; on toast, crispbread, rice cakes and plain bread - a jelly piece, as a friend described that. Well set and a good flavour being the verdict. [picked that jar to test as the film used for lid is poor quality and didn't seal well enough for long term storage].

Quick snap [and not properly focused] of cooking the third batch of Victoria plums. So, this year [2025] I've made a small batch of bramble jelly - from blackberries in the garden, and three lots of plum jam so far in 2025 - from donated plums.

The recent rain has really plumped up the blackberries !

The weather has been sunshine & showers - just right for plumping up and ripening the blackberries ! I've had a couple or three serious picking sessions, and then cooking / straining which has resulted in several pints of juice and that has been transformed into jars of bramble jelly ...

Having cooked the plums quite gently, now to add the sugar. Working on a 1:1 fruit to sugar ratio.

For a change, I thought I would try the de-stone & chopped up before cooking version. there's about 3/4 pint of water in there, to stop the fruit sticking ... The white bag contains the plum stones, which will be included during cooking, to extract the pectin. At least I should not find any stray stones in the jam !
