jpt[25] - Sunday ; Beamish to TRC {2 of 2}

The written instructions for the route back to the Rugby Club, after lunch there was an opportunity for a very, very quick look around Beamish. I had a look around the relatively new 50s/60s town area. As on the outward journey, I followed my own nose ... one of the benefits of local knowledge. The finalists selected over the Lunchbreak were invited to line up outside the clubhouse.

The written instructions to reach Beamish Museum. The marshalling today was the "drop-off" method, and the tail-end Charlie wore a most distinctive tabard. As well as acting as the reserve contact for the Thunderbird pick-up service, I was also marshalling at the entrance into Beamish - we went in via the old entrance onto the "events field" for a packet lunch / hot drink and for the organisers to judge the bikes - to select up to three "finalists" in each of five categories.

The mapped route for the return journey, a somewhat tortuous route back to Corbridge, but very scenic, up over the moors. The climb up Crawleyside Bank can be interesting - long & quite steep.

The written route instructions to Alston [South Tynedale Railway] - some people stopped at the station rather than go onto The Nook for their Lunch break. [I was marshalling at the station - after a couple of incidents [one medical] back at TRC we were actually down on the expected number of travellers. Those that did ride the train seemed to enjoy themselves ! I was pleased to see that, as STR had been my idea in the first place]

Map of the short ride, just a couple of miles, up to The Nook (cafe & farm shop) which was the official Saturday Lunch Stop. I know that some people stayed at the railway for their break.

jpt[25] - Friday Outbound Map {1 of 4}

27 Aug 2025 61
Mapped version of the instructions for the Friday run to Scaleby Motorcycle Museum. The paler blue route takes one up Stagshaw Bank [A68] which is rather notorious for being a long and fairly steep hill, and then along the B6318 [aka the Military Road] This was a self-marshalled exercise, although several small groups took part. At least one of which did the A69 as the return route ...

The route instructions for Scaleby Museum to Tynedale Rugby Club. There's a biker friendly cafe at Chollerford, by the roundabout.

The return road map from Scaleby to Tynedale Rugby Club, this was along the "back roads" including the B6318 aka the Military Road and down Stagshaw Bank [A68] which is rather notorious for being a long and fairly steep hill.

jpt[25] - unmarshalled ride

Another option offered was a shorter but self-guided circular ride. I think a number of people tried this as an alternative to the longer marshalled rides on Saturday and Sunday.
