Ash Gill Force, being quite gentle today, thanks to the lack of recent rainfall. The arch above and behind carries the B6277, which links Alston & Middleton-in-Teesdale.

One of the lower cascade series, a little way below the main force, on Ashgill Beck [Ash Gill], before it gets to the River South Tyne. The plant with the white / cream flower spike is meadowsweet. You cross over using this bridge and climb a little way further up to the main Force, just visible under the road bridge in the distance.

One of the lower cascade series, a little way below the main force, on Ashgill Beck [Ash Gill], before it gets to the River South Tyne. There's quite a deep pool at the base of this one.
