Electricity is particularly expensive for UK industrial customers - it is practically un-regulated compared to the domestic market. 4th most expensive in the domestic market and clearly the most expensive to non-domestic users. NOTE : Industrial users, if they are registered for VAT can set the VAT they pay for supplies against the amount they collect as a charge on their products / services. Not everybody is VAT registered ! Personally, I blame the privatised supply industry ... Interestingly, I have seen that an increasing number of organisations are installing solar panels / wind turbines in an attempt [often successful] to moderate their energy costs. . not my image : fair use & public information

A significant driver of the current inflation has been the surge in energy prices, especially gas and electricity, with more increases to come with the price cap changes due later in April 2022.
