One horse-power provided by "Ian" - harnessed to Tram No.1 , an enclosed saloon for 30 passengers, built as a replacement in 1913. As the ground shows, it's been a bit wet, hence the use of the saloons.

One horse-power tram service. Motive power is a Clydesdale gelding "Ian" who is harnessed to Tram No.1 This is a replacement enclosed saloon, seating 30 passengers, built in 1913.

At the Derby Castle end of Douglas Promenade. Charles is hoping the conductor / groom has a stash of edibles. It had just been raining (again) which is why enclosed saloon No.1 is in use ...
