Built in Leeds by Greenwood & Batley during 1945 as Works no 2000. Supplied to the CEGB for shunting at Stourport Power Station, and retired when Merry-go-round trains became the supply route. Operated at Southport, but sadly the Lead-Acid cells are now unserviceable. It is hope sponsorship can be found, as this would make a very useful low-carbon emission shunter. . ribblesteam.org.uk/exhibits/diesel/greenwood-batley-2000-1945-greenbat

RER - U2 derelict

This is "U2" , more properly known as "Greenbat" - a Greenwood & Batley battery locomotive, Currently parked in the sidings at Ravenglass, in Cumbria has the once 16" gauge No. 2872, built in 1957 for Thomas Marshall & Co. of Storrs Bridge Fireclay Mine in Yorkshire. Formerly used as a carriage shunter; it was also hired to Gateshead Garden Festival, as motive power during the construction phase. Sadly, it seems to be out of favour now, and sits awaiting refurbishment and a new battery.
