Bella on a ridge of the fall [Haltwhistle Common] - waiting for me to catch up. Already far too hot for rushing about, despite a decent breeze, so we are on the way back home. Bella, for her, had a good, long drink of cool water when we got back.

No, not a spring as such. That is actually rainwater draining out of a mole hill on the fell, after several hours of heavy rain. It was almost dark when this image was captured.

Surface runoff - aka rainwater - flowing down the pathway up onto the fell [the local common] after several hours of really heavy rain. The area by this gate was becoming impassable.

Bella looking back to make sure we are keeping up - having said we're going back now, as it's time for our coffee. . This area is rented out as "rough grazing" but isn't occupied as often as it used to be, so the grass is getting quite long.

One of Bella's favourite things, having a fuss after having a tazz whilst walking on the fell behind the house. Although it is sunny, the wind is rather strong [& cold] up there this morning, hence the heavy coat.

Bella waiting {im}patiently for us to catch up --- One part of our usual morning routine is to take Bella up onto the fell behind the house. There are plenty of smells to sniff and lumps n bumps for her to run over. [Hadrian's Wall is right on the far distant skyline].

Bella "crashed-landed" while racing on the fell this morning, and is now expecting a cuddle ! No, she's not hurt, probably just slightly embarrassed about the lack of finesse in her touchdown.

Interesting water [feed ?] tank sitting in a field above the Wasdale Head Inn. Overall condition, well rusted ! Rivetted iron plate, with the top edge reinforced with a D-section strap. There are a couple of flanged outlet / inlet ports, without pipework, and some rust worm has made more holes. It looks, to me, like a small mining tub that has been modified ...

Bella charging over the fell to meet me, towards the end of her morning walk. It might look warm and sunny, but there is a cold, easterly breeze - very noticeable in the shade.

Bella offered up her front paws, as she wanted a hug, she is such a happy little collie. Still quite timid in many ways, however, her confidence is growing steadily.
