Hadn't seen any lambs locally [by the third week in February] so we went looking and eventually found these little ones over by Penrith. To be quite honest, open-field lambing seems to have been very late in the North of England this year, and in parts of Wales as well. Maybe the grotty weather this time last year resulted in a late "tupping" season for this year [Tupping is putting the rams in with the ewes].

snow on some rugurosa hedging - this will get trimmed back in the spring - the haws have been food and the bushes shelter for garden birds.
