It's almost high tide, so only a tiny patch of beach. Just above the high tide mark were several pieces of driftwood, this was probably the biggest single lump. A very short distance to the right is where the Briardene meets the North Sea.

That's actually a sizable lump of wood washed up by the receding tide. Next to the ugly modern slipway into the Outer Harbour at Whitehaven. Pleased to see sand accumulating rather than piles of seaweed tangled up with plastic rubbish and dead bycatch, as present on recent visits. Bella inspected the log on her arrival on the beach !

The high tides & onshore winds have built up the beach significantly, as well as bringing a load of driftwood ashore at Roker, mostly bits of branches washed down the River Wear during recent storms. This lump of tree stood out. I reckon that would make a good place to hang bags and towels.

Several driftwood tree trunks are incorporated into this area of Roker sea front, as part of the regeneration efforts in the area.

The remains of roots on a stump, from the colour and state of these piece of timber, I am pretty sure that they are all "driftwood" - and some of the trunks probably washed up on the nearby beach ! Part of a planted up stumpery as part of the regeneration scheme.

Some exceptionally salt-tolerant plants and other items [timber, driftwood and rocks] have been used to improve this area of Roker Sea Front.

The high tide has brought Ben de-Dog another branch - a snapped off branch from an ash tree. For the past few visits he has been collecting sticks ! The departing waves stranded that branch in such a way as to partially block the access steps down to the beach.
